TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has successfully graduated 79 youths in its 2023 Skill Acquisition Programme (SAP) in Koko, Delta State, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
The SAP, initiated in 2006, aims to train underprivileged youths from host communities in various vocational skills. This year’s graduation brings the total number of beneficiaries to 79, with five local youths selected annually. The programme was not conducted in 2011 or 2020.
Key Highlights of the 2023 SAP:
- Comprehensive Training: The programme includes pre-selection screening and placement in certified training centres.
- Support Package: TotalEnergies provides training materials, allowances, and starter packs to equip graduates for their chosen careers.
- Specialisations: This year’s beneficiaries specialised in fashion design (3) and hairdressing/makeup artistry (2).
- Business Setup Assistance: Each graduate received starter packs and two years of paid shop rent to establish their businesses.
Dr. Samba Seye, Managing Director of TotalEnergies, represented by Mrs. Adesua Adewole, General Manager (Country Services), encouraged the graduates to believe in their abilities and work diligently towards success in their vocations.
Engr. Victor Ohwodiasa, State Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, praised the programme as a corporate social investment and urged other companies in Koko to follow TotalEnergies’ example.
