Renowned Nigerian entrepreneur Melody Fidel has urged young people to adopt a lifestyle approach to entrepreneurship rather than viewing it as a mere job. Fidel shared this advice during a recent session of the Business and Entrepreneurship Platform, a popular social media initiative with a global following.
Fidel emphasised the crucial role of passion in entrepreneurial success. He encouraged young entrepreneurs to focus on providing essential services and addressing societal challenges. By embracing entrepreneurship as a lifestyle, Fidel explained, individuals can not only create job opportunities but also experience personal fulfilment.
“Entrepreneurship brings immeasurable joy and satisfaction,” Fidel stated. “When you love and are passionate about what you do, your heart is filled with happiness and contentment. You’re contributing to the growth and development of your community and nation.”
Fidel cautioned against viewing entrepreneurship solely as a means to make ends meet. He noted that this mindset can lead to frustration and abandonment when faced with challenges. “Success comes from dedication, commitment, and fully embracing your passion for a particular line of business,” Fidel declared.
The Business and Entrepreneurship Platform is part of the Sustenance and Stability Business Summit, an initiative founded by Fidel. Over the past decade, the summit has mentored and empowered over 10,000 youths across Africa, both physically and virtually. Additionally, it has provided business grants to more than 100 young entrepreneurs.
Fidel’s advice offers valuable guidance for young people considering entrepreneurial ventures. By prioritising passion, adopting a lifestyle approach, and seeking mentorship, individuals can increase their chances of success and make a positive impact on their communities.
