UBA launched a graduate program that trained young African business leaders

The United Bank for Africa (UBA), Africa’s leading financial institution, has announced the successful completion of its inaugural Graduate Management Accelerated Program (GMAP). This program aims to groom the next generation of professionals and leaders across the continent.

Over 700 graduates from 19 African countries completed the intensive 6-month program. The GMAP combines hands-on work experience, on-the-job training, and learning modules accredited by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. Participants gained exposure across various bank departments and business units while developing critical skills for accelerated career growth.

“Developing platforms for young Africans to grow is crucial,” said UBA Chairman Tony Elumelu. “I hope to see future CEOs emerge from this program to take UBA to new heights.” Elumelu emphasized UBA’s commitment to prioritizing human capital development and unlocking youth potential in Africa.

UBA GMD Oliver Alawuba also highlighted the participants’ dedication and resilience. “Their role is pivotal in providing the resources required for success as they start their careers,” he remarked. Alawuba added that UBA offers equal opportunities for all to achieve their dreams, irrespective of background.
