Empowering Nigerian MSMEs: DBN to Host Annual Lecture Series

The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) is set to host its fifth annual lecture series on September 25th at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. The event, themed “Empowering Nigerian MSMEs in a Challenging Global Landscape,” will focus on addressing the critical challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

Renowned industry leaders will gather to discuss and offer solutions to the pressing issues hindering the growth of MSMEs. The keynote speaker will be Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc. A panel of experts, including Abba Aliyu (Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency) and Ajuma Ataguba (Managing Director of Founder Institute and Venture Partner at White Hibiscus Capital), will also share their insights on navigating the current business environment.

Tony Okpanachi, Managing Director/CEO of DBN, emphasised the importance of supporting MSMEs, which form the backbone of Nigeria’s economy. He acknowledged the significant threats posed by local, regional, and global challenges, particularly the lack of affordable financing and disruptions in global supply chains.

The DBN lecture series aims to provide a platform for business leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss these challenges and develop strategies to empower MSMEs and drive sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.
